World Book Day® is a registered charity, company and trademark

There’s no better time than World Book Day to get your kids excited about reading. On Thursday 6th March 2025, children all over the UK and Ireland celebrate books and reading by dressing up as their favourite book characters and enjoying fun reading activities.

What is World Book Day?

World Book Day is a charity that promotes reading for pleasure by giving every child and young person the opportunity to access a book of their own whilst raising awareness of the positive impact reading has on children's lives, especially those who are growing up in disadvantaged backgrounds.

Every year there is a World Book Day event where children join in with fun activities around reading including dressing up as their favourite book characters. The charity also distributes £1 book tokens that children can exchange for a free £1 World Book Day book giving more children access to books and helping to encourage a life-long love of reading.
